Are you a midwifery PEP student doing self study?
You are probably choosing self study because midwifery school is very expensive or or this one fits for all traditional educational system is not for you; I hear you! You should have options! Doing midwifery school in addition to the PEP is very demanding, and sometimes frustrating when things don’t work with your preceptor or when you’re not getting a comprehensive education. I am here to supplement your self study. This mentorship program covers most of the educational part and of course my experience managing both normal and complicated births both at healthcare setting and at home. This course is developed for PEP students to support their knowledge in modern and professional midwifery so that they feel confident in providing care for their clients by supplementing the skills they are learning through apprenticeship and properly communicate with the wider health care system.
Why am I doing this?
Well, in order to be a competent midwife, you need to know the whole science surrounding pregnancy, birth and postpartum and it is helpful when you have an experienced educator to compile the latest evidence and science to share with you. It’s good when someone else does the job of collecting these knowledge from available resources and present it to you. It is good when you get the experience not only from traditional midwives but to supplement your knowledge with modern midwifery so that you can speak the same language and have a better understanding when you talk with people in other professions because you will need the collaboration right?
I am Direct Entry Midwife, Internationally Educated and NARM certified through the Internationally Educated Midwife PEP route (this route is gone now). If I haven’t had the knowledge I had from my former education, I don’t think I would have felt confident only through apprenticeship to go out and practice. Most of our experienced midwives lack the updated scientific knowledge. Therefore, we either need to go to school or self teach ourselves. The self study route is limited to resources we have at hand and getting a comprehensive source is limited. So I decided to teach. I have been a midwife for over 13 years and an instructor for over six years. Teaching is my thing! I would love to share my experience with you and fill the gap.
